Remember them? Eskimo Joe frontman has barely aged a day as the rock band release new single 23 years after first hitting the charts

Eskimo Joe took Australia by storm in the 2000s with their catchy rock hits.

And frontman Kavyen Temperley proved he’d barely aged a day since the group’s heyday when he appeared on The Project on Friday night.

The 45-year-old is still sporting his classic punk look and rockabilly coif, and told the show the band still get along as well as they did when they formed in the 1990s.

‘I feel very lucky that we’ve actually managed to stay friends for this long period of time’ Kav said.

‘Really, that’s the success of any band. Can you stand each other for longer than five minutes? Great. We’ve managed to stand each other for about 27 years.’

The musician added: ‘So I think we just kind of deal with whatever’s in front of us. But we actually really enjoy the journey. We get along well. We laugh a lot.

‘Stu from the band is extremely funny. I think that’s probably the secret to our success. We still laugh.’

Along with Stuart MacLeod and Joel Quartermain, Kavyen says the band are back with a new single, The First Time, which they dropped in March.

They have also recently embarked on their National Acoustic Theatre Tour around Australia.

Prior to that, they released their first single in seven years, Say Something, back in 2020.

The following year, the band released their first greatest hits album, called The World Repeats Itself Somehow.

Kav has been the lead singer of Eskimo Joe since 1997, and the alternative rock band have had ARIA-chart-topping hits all throughout the early to mid 2000s.

Those popular singles include From the Sea and Black Fingernails, Red Wine and have won a number of ARIAs, including for Single of the Year.
