House clearance workers got an unexpected surprise on a job when a mysteriously heavy bed turned out to contain hundreds of vintage erotic magazines.

The discovery was made by Karl Horler of Frome Reclamation, in Somerset during a house clearance in Bristol.

Mr Horler, 47, and his colleague couldn’t lift a bed as it was so heavy and decided to investigate.

Karl Horler (pictured) of Somerset-based Frome Reclamation found hundreds of vintage pornography magazines dating back to the 1960s while clearing a house in Bristol

He said: ‘There were some drawers in the base but they were stuck so we had to cut through.

‘And when we did there were hundreds of pristine porn mags from the 1960s to the present day that were under the bed.

‘They had weighed down the bed that’s why we couldn’t move it.

‘It was definitely a surprise.

Mr Horler, 47, said there was so much vintage pornography he and his colleague could not shift the bed. He believed the stash belonged to 'a single man who had passed on'

‘You do sometimes get surprises in this game.

‘There were over a hundred magazines some from the early 1960s to about 2010.

‘I believe the owner was a single man who had passed on.’

Mr Horler added some of the magazine could be of interest to collectors.

‘I had a look on eBay and there is a market for these things,’ he added.
