Revellers have dressed to the nines as they turned out in force for the inaugural Festival X.

It was the turn of festival-goers in Sydney to show off their most eye-catching attire on Saturday after those in Brisbane partied into the night a day earlier at the brand new event. 

Hundreds of extravagantly-dressed attendees started filtering through into the Sydney Showgrounds from 1pm in preparation for a star-packed line-up set to rock the city’s west.

One group of three fans in the Harbour City wore an eclectic ensemble in keeping with their brightly-coloured hair as they got ready to attend the brand new event.

But another trio in Brisbane decided to co-ordinate their outfits a little more closely, with the three of them wearing matching blue-patterned get-ups.

Dozens of police officers were positioned at the main gates as revellers made their way into the venue early on Saturday afternoon. 

The festival will move onto Melbourne on Sunday as it continues its first tour of Australia

The heavy policing comes after an inquest in July into music festival deaths in New South Wales heard one in 20 Year Ten students have tried the drug.

Deputy State Coroner Harriet Grahame was examining the drug-related deaths of six young people at NSW music festivals between December 2017 and January 2019. 

Nathan Tran, Diana Nguyen, Joseph Pham, Callum Brosnan, Joshua Tam and Alexandra Ross-King all died from MDMA toxicity or complications of MDMA use. 

They were aged between 18 and 23.
