Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes has apologized for making a rape comment towards a female heckler at her Oakland show.
Leakes was caught on video telling the female audience member that she ‘hoped she would get raped by her Uber driver’ after her show on Saturday night.
She posted an apology on Facebook on Monday saying she regretted her comments after footage of the exchange was posted online, causing outrage.
‘Sometimes words can cut deep and hurt when you have no intentions of them doing so,’ Leakes wrote.
‘As a woman and someone who has survived abuse, I regret the words that I used. I made a mistake and I should have known better. I hope people accept my deepest and sincerest apologies. I am sorry.’

Footage of her vile comments caused outrage when it was shared on Facebook by another audience member.
‘So NeNe Leakes comes to Oakland at the Paramount, gets BOO’d then tells woman in crowd “she hopes the Uber driver that picks her up RAPES her” WOW. This is a prime example as to why EVERYBODY is NOT a comedian,’ the Facebook user wrote.
Leakes was performing standup at a show Saturday night when the crowd started booing her.
In the video, Leakes is then heard lashing out a woman, saying: ‘I hope he [Uber driver] rapes your a** tonight b**ch.’
It’s unclear what the audience member said that sparked Leakes’ reaction.
It comes after the RHOA star also got into a social media spat with Kim Zolciak’s daughter, Brielle Biermann, last week.

Leakes was outraged about a Snapchat video Biermann took at her new home that was critical of a bathroom and showed a large bug.
Biermann was shown in the Snapchat video squatting while trying to take a selfie in the bathroom.
She wrote in the caption: ‘When u gotta get down on the floor to see ur self bc this bathroom has no mirrors besides the sink lmao’.
The video then showed the bathroom sink and a close-up of an insect crawling along the floor.
NeNe blasted Brielle on Instagram for taking the video.
‘@briellebiermann We don’t have roaches! If you found 1, u brought it with u or it fell outta yo funky p****! Please know I will get You all the way together when you start f***ing wit me and mine!’ Leakes wrote on Instagram.
‘Go somewhere and let the air outta those fake lips, fake ti**ies and fake a** because you will never be @kylejenner [sic],’ Leakes added.
‘Yo trashy mama should have taught you better! My home is Brand New but you guys were so jealous of it, you couldn’t even give a compliment. You had to stoop so low and be so disgusting,’ she also wrote.
Leakes concluded with some racially charged hashtags and advice: ‘#racisttrash #jealous #KKK #thirsty you better run yo a** back to a child’s place #youwannaactgrown?’
The RHOA star also got into a social media spat with Kim Zolciak’s daughter, Brielle Biermann (right), last week.

Zolciak then waded into the fray in defense of Biermann, and accused Leakes of playing the race card.
‘It’s so sad and offensive that someone can stoop so low as to call someone a racist just because they are mad,’ Zolciak wrote.
‘Everyone in my life knows that I am far from racist and unfortunately NeNe Leakes has tried for the last 10 years to paint that picture because that’s her last resort,’ Kim added.
‘In a day and age where racism is very much alive and people are actually dying because of real racists, it’s heartbreaking that NeNe would cry wolf like this only because she’s upset,’ Zolciak continued.
Zolciak added that everyone, including NeNe, should focus on ‘uplifting people instead of tearing them down’.
‘Nene should be embracing love instead of making up lies. There is absolutely no credibility to anything that she has said. I will NOT stand for these slanderous comments!’ Zolciak concluded.
Leakes and Zolciak starred together as original housewives on RHOA before Zolciak bolted in the middle of season five.
Season 10 of RHOA will premiere on November 5 on Bravo.
