Richard Madden SLAPS Taron Egerton as star portrays Elton John’s on set of biopic ‘Rocketman’

He’s just wowed the nation with his gripping portrayal of DCI Budd is BBC One’s the Bodyguard.

And Richard Madden is setting pulses racing again as he slapped Taron Egerton while in character on the set of new film Rocketman.

The Game of Thrones star, 32, is playing Elton John’s former manager and boyfriend John Reid.

The actual Rocket Man, Sir Elton John, 71, is working as a producer on the film, alongside his husband David Furnish, 55.

The film, which is shooting in London stars Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin, who wrote a catalogue of hits with John; and Bryce Dallas Howard and Steven Mackintosh as his parents.

Director Dexter Fletcher previously told Baz Bamigboye: ‘It’s about Elton navigating personal and family relationships. He looks for love in all the wrong places, he abuses himself with drugs and booze – yet he’s a genius who has survived for over half a century in showbusiness.’

Although the movie, written by Lee Hall, is based on fact, some of John’s story has been fictionalised.

Welsh-born Egerton does his own singing. 

It comes as Richard Madden said he wants to take a break from fame following the smash hit success of his most recent show.

The Cinderella star, who has been tipped to be the next James Bond, set fans’ pulses racing when he shared several saucy scenes with Keeley Hawes’ character and even bared his toned bottom.

Yet the star has admitted he doesn’t want to be known as a ‘hunky thing’ and plans to escape to a secluded Scottish hideaway.   

Talking to the Daily Star, he said: ‘My aim is to buy a little place on the west coast to escape. It’s so gorgeous. I am also my happiest up there. It would be so quiet too. 

‘I worry about it affecting my job. If people go, “Oh, you know, he’s that hunky thing”, that undermines that actually I am an actor.’

Richard is currently dating Nocturnal Animals actress Ellie Bamber, 21, with the two recently enjoying a romantic getaway to Milan Fashion Week.

The actor previously dated Victoria actress Jenna Coleman, with the two having an on-off relationship for four years, splitting in 2015.     

With the Bodyguard’s explosive finale on Sunday, it left fans grasping for more, even though plans for a potential second season haven’t yet been solidified.

However, Jed Mercurio, the show’s creator, recently dropped some hints about the future of the popular show.

‘It’s fair to say we would probably approach any thoughts of a second series with the idea that it would create an opportunity for a third or fourth,’ he said.
