Richard Madeley has been slammed by Good Morning Britain viewers for cutting off Ricky Hatton as he was discussing his battle with suicidal thoughts.
Boxing champ Ricky, 44, appeared on Wednesday’s show where he discussed his battles with mental health.
The athlete recalled one instance where he was in such a dark place that he had thoughts of suicide and so sought help from a professional.
Recalling going to the therapist’s office, Ricky said: ‘I opened the door and just fell on my knees. I said, “you need to help me or I am going to kill myself. I won’t be here next week I can’t do it.
He added: ‘”You need to tell me what to do today or I am not going to be here …”‘

Richard then cut off Ricky and said: ‘Thank God you did’.
Ricky carried on and said: ‘I spoke to him and got my little routine,’ before Richard repeated ‘thank God you did’ again.
The host then cut Ricky off once more as he told him they had to move on, saying: ‘Just very quickly because as always, we are out of time, got to wrap this up,’ before he asked him one last question.
Unimpressed viewers took to social media to express their frustration at the interview, with one writing: ‘Let Ricky talk FFS!’
Another wrote: ‘GMB Madeley stops him talking about something interesting so he can witter on.’
A third viewer added: ‘Stupid long questions to Hatton,’ and a fourth said: ‘Yeah cut the guy off who’s talking about suicide.’
Meanwhile, Hatton, a brutally honest and deeply personal documentary film with unprecedented access to Ricky will air on Sky Documentaries & NOW on August 31.
The 90-minute film will explore Hatton’s life in and outside of the ring – charting his journey from the Hattersley estate near Manchester to headlining on the Las Vegas strip.

Hatton’s battle with mental health features prominently in the film and illustrates the ‘depression, addiction and shame’ that followed his defeats by Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
The film reveals how Ricky’s estrangement from his family for nearly a decade and how the split from his coach pushed him to his absolute rock bottom and an attempted suicide.
