One fan in particular was so excited that he climbed a telegraph pole and jumped onto a roof at the corner of Lennox and Swan Street about 7pm.

Once on the roof, he set fire to a sign supporting the Giants which had a large image of Toby Greene’s face and said: ‘Love ya oats, Uncle-Toby’.

The man, wearing distinctive glasses, was cheered on by the crowd as he held the burning sign.

According to The Herald Sun, violence erupted when the man climbed back down the telegraph pole where he was met by police.

Greene was slammed by fans during the game on Saturday after he appeared to eye gouge a Richmond player in the opening quarter.

In footage of the incident, Greene can be seen holding Tigers player Liam Baker on the ground with one arm while grabbing at his face with his other hand.

‘Dirty as they come. No surprises,’ one fan wrote online.

Greene appears to have not learnt his lesson after being put on the sidelines for a week by the tribunal after the Giant’s semi-final win against the Brisbane Lions.

He copped a $7,500 fine after pleading guilty to a serious misconduct charge over an ugly incident involving Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli during the game.

The tribunal ruled Greene had made unreasonable contact with the eye region of Lions midfielder Lachie Neale.

Amid the celebrations on Swan Street, fans also set fire a GWS scarf as fans continued to chant about Greene.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria Police for comment.
