He explained: ‘I love both [Melbourne and Sydney] but they are both so different so it’s hard to compare.’

Dustin added: ‘Obviously, Sydney’s beaches are awesome and the weather is better. Then Melbourne has awesome cafés and restaurants.’

The AFL superstar spent his teenage years in Sydney, living with his dad and playing football.

In 2007, Dustin returned to Melbourne to live with his mother and was drafted by Richmond two years later.

Earlier this year, Dustin’s agent Ralph Carr sparked rumours the footballer could make a shock move to Sydney.

Carr said ‘he loves Sydney’ when asked about the Brownlow Medallist’s history in the city since he grew up in Camden, on Sydney’s southwest fringe.

‘Dusty loves Sydney,’ he told Daily Telegraph.

‘He’s there a lot and he originally lived in Camden with his dad. You’ve got to live there to really know how good it is.’

Although Dustin plays for the Richmond Tigers in Melbourne, he spends most of his off-season in Sydney.

Dustin and Swans star Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin are both out of contract after the 2022 season and if Martin made the move to Sydney, the older star’s career could be over.

Franklin commanded a nine-year contract worth $10million with the Swans.
