She sported a black figure-hugging dress that clung to her curves and boasted silver fringe detailing for an added dose of sparkle, and elevated her height in a pair of chain style silver heels.

Her honey coloured locks were styled poker straight, with her fringe parted down the side for a sleek and sophisticated look.

She opted for a dramatic black and silver winged eyeshadow to match her dress, and finished the makeup off with a slick of lipgloss.

Shots during the episode showed the pop star exclaiming in shock beside fellow judges Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross, as Keane frontman Tom Chaplin was unveiled as Poodle.

The singer, 42, became the fifth celebrity to be revealed after Pat Cash was unmasked as Bagpipes, Heather Small was unveiled as Chandelier, Snow Leopard was unmasked as Gloria Hunniford and Will Young turned out to be Lionfish in previous episodes.

Tom left the competition after he attempted to earn the judge’s favour by belting out the classic hit Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.

Speaking after being unmasked Tom said: ‘I’ve loved it, I found it exhilarating and terrifying and confusing, but I really have had the best time.’

In a post-show interview, Tom lifted the lid on why he decided to take part in the show, saying: ‘I’ve got to a point in my life where I don’t take myself too seriously anymore. I think that’s pretty important if you’re going to dress up as a seven foot multicoloured poodle.

‘I’ve also become much more interested in embracing different challenges – being in a band is like living on a little island, so it’s good to try things that are out of your comfort zone!’

Asked how hard it is to keep the secret, he said: ‘I thought it would be a lot harder but I got the knack of speaking in code pretty quickly.

‘I spend most of my time living in the middle of the Kent countryside with my little family, so keeping quiet has mostly been a case of not spilling the beans to my daughter when she’s been quizzical about me disappearing early in the morning and returning late at night.

Tom also told how he wasn’t impressed with the judges guesses before his reveal, saying: ‘Hopeless! Amongst the guesses were Snoop Dogg, Grayson Perry and a vague suggestion that I simply must be a drag queen!

‘I was kind of flattered that they eventually got stuck on Mika, who’s a great singer and performer. I have to admit to being surprised that Jonathan didn’t have an inkling it was me, especially given that I must have been on his TV show several times over the years.’
