Its cast contains three of the most iconic actors living today.
And Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino were all on hand at the New York Film Festival at Manhattan’s Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center on Friday for the world premiere of their new film The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese.
Perennial Scorsese favorite De Niro, 76, had a somber look as he posed for pictures in his dark suit, while his Goodfellas costar Pesci, also 76, and Pacino, 79, laughed together before the screening.

De Niro, who won his second Oscar back in 1981 for his leading role in Scorsese’s Raging Bull, posed for pictures solo.
Pesci, meanwhile, was arm in arm with Pacino at the photo call, with the former in a smart grey pinstripe suit and black hat, and the latter in a black cardigan and grey striped scarf.
Joe Pesci is also a frequent actor in Martin Scorsese’s films, having won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in 1990’s Goodfellas.
All three actors were famously ‘de-aged’ to play younger versions of themselves in the film – a visual effect which contributed to the movie’s hefty $160million budget.
Surprisingly, this is Al Pacino’s first time appearing in a Martin Scorsese picture — he has performed in films by countless other respected directors, including Brian De Palma, Michael Mann, Sidney Lumet and Francis Ford Coppola, but never Scorsese.

De Niro and Pacino, who are both considered Hollywood acting heavyweights and somewhat legendary in their own regard, have worked on a few other films together over the years, beginning with The Godfather Part II in 1974 (although they never appear on screen together), and again in 1995’s mob crime thriller Heat.
They have not collaborated on a film together for 11 years, with the last one being Righteous Kill in 2008.
Pesci and Pacino, meanwhile, are working together for the first time in The Irishman.
Pacino plays mob legend Jimmy Hoffa in the film.
Others present at the festival screening on Friday included the film’s director Scorsese, 76, who also donned a dark suit and a red patterned tie, and one of the film’s producers, the legendary Irwin Winkler, 88.

The Irishman is a big budget crime/mob film that will be released in select theaters in November, but the title enjoys the distinction of being the first large film of its caliber to be dropping on a streaming platform — in this case Netflix.
The film’s impressive cast includes Harvey Keitel, Ray Romano, and Anna Paquin, who were also all in tow on Friday.
Keitel, 80, attended in a black on black suit ensemble with his wife Daphna Kastner, who brought some color in a chevron skirt and patterned, multicolored scarf.
