  • Child rapist Robert Fardon, 70, has been living just metres from a primary school
  • He was first convicted in 1967 for sexual abuse offences against 10-year-old girl
  • He went on to commit a string of horrific sexual crimes against women and girls
  • On Tuesday, it was revealed Fardon is staying at a home in Salisbury in Brisbane

Sex offender Robert Fardon has been living at a home just metres from a primary school and a child care centre.

Two Queensland judges found the child rapist should be allowed to live unsupervised in the community in a decision made public last month.

Nine News has obtained photographic evidence that the 70-year-old is living in Salisbury in Brisbane’s south.

Fardon is no longer classed a dangerous prisoner and has moved out of the state-sponsored housing where he has been living since his release from prison in 2013.

He was first convicted in 1967, then aged 18, for sexual abuse offences against a 10-year-old girl, and went on to commit a string of crimes against women and girls.

In 2003 he became the first person to be jailed in Queensland indefinitely under new laws targeting repeat sex offenders but was later released on a supervision order.

More to come.
