One of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s prosecutors has inked a lucrative book contract and is penning a volume that will finally a first glimpse inside the Russia probe that infuriated President Trump.

Andrew Weissmann, a top prosecutor who oversaw the successful conviction of former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort, had been shopping a proposal.

The New York Times reported he reached a deal with publishing giant Random House, hours after CNN reported he was shopping around a proposal.

Weissmann is not a household name, although he did become a target of President Trump as he raged against what he termed Mueller’s stable of ‘angry Democrats.’

No details on a possible advance were available.

Weissmann is joining the ranks of others connected to the Russia probe and Trump orbit to try their hand at a tell-all. The most successful has been former FBI Director James Comey, whose inside accounts of his conversations and notes with Trump became key evidence in the Russia probe.

His longtime experience as a government prosecutor and experience in complex financial crimes served him during the Manafort prosecution, which resulted in a 7 1/2 year sentence.

Prosecutors engineered the cooperation of a succession of Trump associates, including former national security advisor Mike Flynn, Manafort’s deputy Rick Gates, and also worked with longtime lawyer Michael Cohen, who pleaded guilty to lying to Congress and a campaign finance violation.

Cohen’s prosecution was handed off to prosecutors in New York.

Fired former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, another top Trump target, also wrote a book. CNN reported in March that Weissmann was leaving the Justice Department to take a position at New York University.

News of Weissmann’s book comes as Mueller continues to resist efforts by House Democrats to get him to testify about his work product.

Trump has helped raise Weissmann’s profile through his tweets, as he did last December when he wrote: ‘Will Robert Mueller’s big time conflicts of interest be listed at the top of his Republicans only Report. Will Andrew Weissman’s [sic] horrible and vicious prosecutorial past be listed in the Report.’
