Robina Hospital: Queensland health facility in lockdown after armed man stormed the facility

A hospital has gone into lockdown after a man who was believed to be armed entered the premises having just evaded police.

Emergency services were called to Robina Train Station, on the Gold Coast, about 11am on Tuesday to reports of an armed man but could not locate him upon arrival.

Nearby Robina Hospital was sent into lockdown about 12pm when a ‘Code Black’ was enacted after a man entered the emergency department and appearing armed.

Police rushed to the scene and arrested the man, wielding a gel blaster, without incident at about 1pm.

A spokesperson for Gold Coast Health told Daily Mail Australia that the lockdown was lifted shortly after as the incident has ‘now been resolved’.

‘While ambulance arrivals were being diverted away from Robina Hospital, we are now returning to business as usual,’ the spokesperson said.

More to come.
