Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood’s paintings go on for sale for £25,000 

A huge collection of artwork by legendary Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood has emerged for sale for a whopping £25,000.

The 49 pieces are prints of original paintings created by the 72-year-old guitarist over a number of years and depict a host of famous faces.

Among the celebrities to be given the artist’s treatment are the likes of Mohammed Ali, Elvis Presley and even his own bandmates.

They are expected to collect a combined £25,450 when they go under the hammer at Omega Auctions of Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside.

The most expensive piece in the sale is a framed painting of Mohammed Ali which could sell for as much as £2,500.

The work is a cover of the famous shot of the boxer stood over Sonny Liston after knocking him out in 1965.

It measures 30ins by 38ins and remains in pristine original condition.

Wood, who joined the Rolling Stones in 1975, has also created numerous paintings of the band live on stage.

Most of them are expected to sell for around £600 and feature Mick Jagger giving trademark performances.

Away from the celebrity portraits, the guitarist also appears to have been inspired by nature.

One picture, worth £600, shows a grassy hillside surrounded by autumnal trees. The piece is again signed and is titled ‘Irish Landscape’.

The auctioneers believe there is a large market for the artwork and are expecting a lot of interest.
