‘Ronaldo can go f*** himself!’: UFC champion Ilia Topuria reignites feud with Cristiano – as the Real Madrid superfan extends personal invitation to Lionel Messi for his next fight

  • Ronaldo claimed Topuria ‘talks too much’ prior to his win at UFC 308 in October

UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria has continued his war of words with Cristiano Ronaldo with an x-rated remark.

Born in Germany to Georgian parents, Topuria moved to Spain during his youth and became a Real Madrid fan during Ronaldo’s glittering nine-year stint in the Spanish capital.

In February, Topuria became Spain’s first UFC champion when he dramatically dethroned long-reigning featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski via second-round KO.

The 27-year-old subsequently enjoyed a parade at the Bernabeu, with more than 75,000 fans turning out to celebrate his victory.

However, speaking prior to Topuria’s first title defence MMA fan Ronaldo claimed the Spaniard ‘talks too much’ and that Alexander Volkanovski was compromised prior to the clash at UFC 298.

‘I like Max, he’s a tough guy,’ Ronaldo said. ‘[Topuria] speaks too much.’

He added: ‘I think when he beat Volk [Alexander Volkanovski], Volk wasn’t [ready] because of that kick [from Islam Makhachev], didn’t recover.’

‘But [Topuria] didn’t fight with the top guys,’ Ronaldo also said.

‘If he beats Max, I will respect [him]. Never KO, this is why [Max] will be tough for Topuria.’

After the clip was widely circulated online, Topuria hit back in a thinly-veiled dig on social media, claiming the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was ‘unable to distinguish between confidence and arrogance.’

He wasn’t finished there though, as Topuria continued the war of words in no uncertain terms in a recent interview, whilst also extending an invitation to Ronaldo’s long-time rival, Lionel Messi, for his next fight.

‘I saw a clip where he said that I’m all talk,’ Topuria told El Partidazo de Cope.

‘Cristiano, he always got something to say. I’m going to personally invite Messi because he lives there.’

Topuria also indicated that he would like to move up to 155lbs for his next fight, and named a former champion as a potential opponent.

Topuria insisted he would like to feature at an upcoming UFC event in Miami, and extended an invitation to Lionel Messi

‘I would like to fight the number one contender, who is Charles Oliveira. We have Messi, Ronaldo can f*** himself.’

While Topuria clearly isn’t fond of the former Real Madrid star, the same cannot be said for one of Ronaldo’s former team-mates in that all-conquering Los Blancos side.

As he prepared to make his first title defence in October, Sergio Ramos was a prominent feature and even joined him inside the cage after he became the first man to KO UFC legend Max Holloway.
