Brazil legend Ronaldo has revealed the name of his worst-ever team-mate during his illustrious career at Real Madrid.

The former striker had an impressive journey with eight clubs over his 18 years in professional football.

Now, at 48, he is mainly remembered for his stunning style of play while at Inter, Real Madrid, and Brazil’s national team, where he won the 2002 World Cup.

However, in a podcast with fellow legend Romario, Ronaldo has named former Everton star Thomas Gravesen the worst team-mate he ever shared the pitch with.

He said: ‘There was one at Real Madrid who was a joke – Gravesen. He was a Danish midfielder. He was a really cool guy, good guy. A little while ago he won a $50million (£40million) poker tournament or something.

‘But in football he was very bad, he scored and he beat the hell out of people.’

The players spent spent one-and-a-half season together for Real Madrid following the Dane’s move from Everton in January 2005

The players spent one-and-a-half season together at Santiago Bernabeu before Gravesen moved to Celtic in 2006 following his struggles for the Los Blancos.

His transfer to Madrid from Everton came unexpectedly, just a week after his clash against Plymouth in the FA Cup.

Gravesen made 49 appearances and scored a goal in the capital of Spain, where he was accompanied by legends Raul, Roberto Carlos and Zinedine Zidane.

Furthermore, 14 years after his transfer to Madrid, the Dane opened up when he understood Los Blancos were interested in his abilities in an interview with Sky Sports.

‘My agent called me and said: “Madrid is calling”. Everton or Atletico Madrid… I was fancying Everton. He then said it was Real Madrid!,’ said Gravesen. 

‘I was as surprised as anybody. It’s a good story. The experience for me to come into a massive club that Real Madrid is was indescribable.

‘The first day I came into training, sat down on the bench, looked to the left and Roberto Carlos was changing next to me, and the other side was Zinedine Zidane.

‘I thought that I’m right here where I belong!’

Reports in 2006 emerged after Gravesen knocked out one of Ronaldo’s teeth during a playful hug

The Dane – who made 49 appearances in Los Blancos’ shirt – left the capital of Spain in August 2006 over a move to Celtic

During his time for Los Blancos, Gravesen was notably remembered for two incidents when he knocked out one of Ronaldo’s teeth and fought Robinho during a training session.

However, the clash with the former No 9 was seen as innocent as the Dane attempted to hug him before playfully throwing him.

In contrast, his fight with Robinho was considered more severe back in 2006, during a pre-season tour under manager Fabio Capello.

It was understood that the Brazilian initiated the clash after several tackles from Gravesen.

Previously, it was understood that the former Premier League player was worth £100m accoring to poker forum Two Plus Two.

However, later news emerged that the Dane lost £43.6m ($54m) during just one poker session.
