Ronnie O’Sullivan produced a sensational display of snooker to completely outclass Kyren Wilson and claim the English Open title 9-2.

It was one of O’Sullivan’s greatest performances in his 25-year trophy-laden career and such was his mastery that he missed just six balls in 11 frames for a 98 per cent pot success rate.

Ronnie O’Sullivan beat Kyren Wilson comfortably to claim the English Open 9-2

However, he suffered a scare when he forgot his cue and a friend had to dash to his hotel to retrieve it which he did in time to save him being penalised a frame.

O’Sullivan, 41, was in total control throughout their match in Barnsley and needed just three frames in the evening session after leading 6-2 after the afternoon.

He made breaks of 50, 127 and 132 in the final three frames to record his 29th ranking title.

His success means he is now level with John Higgins as the second most prolific ranking event winner of all time, seven adrift of the retired Stephen Hendry’s 36 which he could yet overtake.
