Rooney’s Barbados holiday: Daredevil Kai, 8, is gleefully propelled into the air on a flyboard

Kai Rooney has been showing up his footballer father Wayne once again on the final day of the family’s lavish trip to the tropics.

Hitting the waters of Barbados, the eight-year-old was seen on a flyboard, which propelled him out of the sea and into the air – leaving the youngster grinning with glee.

Meanwhile, dad Wayne, 32, was looking far from slick as he hit a rubber dingy for a ride, seen clinging on for dear life and barely able to stay on it.

Kai joined his father, legs in the air from the force of the water ride, but doing it with much more style.

Even Wayne’s father-in-law – Kai’s granddad – Tony seemed more adept to staying securely on the large red contraption.

While on the flyboard, Kai put safety first, with a lifejacket and crash helmet firmly in place.

He was seen jetting upwards, out of the surf, looking thrilled at the water sport.

Earlier in the afternoon, he had strolled casually to the beach with Wayne, who was covered up in a navy top and light blue shorts.

Kai wore a pair of turquoise shorts for the jaunt, which saw his mother Colleen and brothers Klay, five, and Kit, two, and four-month-old Cass sitting it out.

Kai has been pictured enjoying a multitude of outdoor pursuits during his family break in the Caribbean this week, going fishing and revelling in a speedy jet-ski ride.

The precocious youngster, who has aspirations of following his father into a career as a footballer, appeared to be in his element as he bravely took to the diving board on multiple occasions before making a splash in the welcoming azure waters earlier in the week.

Kai is on the Eastern Caribbean island with his family – the first for four-month-old baby Cass as well as the Rooneys’ first vacation together in Barbados since last May.

It is claimed Coleen has decided not to join her husband of 10 years Wayne in the US if he signs a £300,000-a-week deal to join Washington football club DC United.

The Mail on Sunday understands she will stay in the UK for the sake of their children, moving into a £20 million, six-bedroom mansion the family are building in Cheshire.

‘Talented’ Kai will be able to continue his football training after a source said America could not match ‘the highly talented coaches’ at Manchester City’s Academy.

‘Wayne and Coleen would feel awful if they did anything to affect his chances of realising his dream,’ the source added.

Wayne’s lucrative contract with the new Major League Soccer club is said to be ‘90 per cent done’ and, once signed, he would begin playing this summer.

Coleen and the couple’s four sons will then spend time in the US capital, returning to Britain in time for the school term and the beginning of Kai’s football season.

The possible move abroad comes amid a turbulent time for the Rooneys’ marriage yet the WAG confessed they are working on rebuilding their relationship.

Wayne was three times over the legal alcohol limit when he was pulled over by police while driving in September with Laura Simpson by his side.

As pregnant Coleen was home at the time, the Everton striker met the party girl during a night out in Cheshire and they allegedly shared a kiss.

The mother of four and her footballer husband have put the incident behind them and they are working on their romance with regular cosy nights at the cinema.

She told The Mirror: ‘We’ll have date nights, we go to the cinema, it will depend on what we’ve got on throughout the week. I’ve got a good support network around me, so we do get time to ourselves.’
