Roosters star Cooper Cronk cleared to play in the NRL grand final’ after passing secret fitness test

Bombshell reports Sydney Roosters star Cooper Cronk WILL play tonight after passing secret fitness test

  • Roosters playmaker Cooper Cronk reportedly cleared to play in NRL grand final
  • He passed a secret fitness test on the morning of the grand final
  • Halfback expected to play against his former Melbourne Storm teammates

Sydney Roosters playmaker Cooper Cronk has been reportedly cleared to play in Sunday night’s NRL grand final against Melbourne Storm.

The club’s medical team gave Cronk the all clear after putting the halfback through his paces in a secret fitness test on Sunday morning, news.com.au reported.

It’s understood the decision is now up to with the champion halfback and Roosters coach Trent Robinson.

Cooper Cronk has been in grave doubt for the NRL grand final after injuring his shoulder in the preliminary final

The Roosters are expected to confirm his selection an hour before kick off at 6.30pm.

Cronk is the fifth favourite and at $9 odds to win the Clive Churchill Medal for best on ground.

However, rugby league legend Andrew Johns doubts the Roosters star will overcome his shoulder injury and take the field.

‘I think he’s no chance, I don’t think he’ll play,’ Johns said on Channel 9.

‘I’m wrong all the time but I don’t think he’ll play.

‘He’s no chance. The way he came off last week, the way he was carrying it and the clips you saw during the week from the helicopter where he can’t even bend over and pick the ball up, I don’t think he’ll play.’

Storm coach Bellamy told Channel 9’s The Footy Show on Thursday night his side would not hesitate to target Cronk in the grand final

‘Not going to go chasing him all over the field but if we get someone close enough we’re going to run hard at him put it that way,’ he said.

More to come.
