Rory McIlroy becomes the first three-time FedExCup winner in history with a stunning one-shot victory over Sung-Jae Im and Scottie Scheffler in a thrilling finish to the Tour Championship in Atlanta

Rory McIlroy is the first player ever to win the FedExCup three times after winning by a shot in Atlanta following a tantalising finale.

World number one Scottie Scheffler led by a single shot when play resumed following a suspension because of lightning, recording four birdies in the closing six holes to finish 23 under ahead of the final round.

Scheffler and Sung-Jae Im had to settle for second in the final round after McIlroy wrapped up victory at the last.
