Teenage boy, 16, arrested after woman and 11-year-old girl are nearly stabbed to death near Brisbane

A teenage boy has been taken into custody after a mother and daughter were allegedly stabbed multiple times. 

Emergency services were called to a home in Rosewood, 60km southwest of Brisbane, at about 10:30pm on Thursday night. 

Queensland Police said an 11-year-old girl and her 39-year-old mother were found with numerous stab wounds to their abdomen, and rushed to hospital.

The girl was taken to Queensland Children’s hospital in a critical condition while her mother is in a stable condition at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital, The Courier Mail reported.  

A 16-year-old boy, who police said lives with the victims, was taken into custody  without incident. 

A crime scene has been declared at the home as investigations continue.
