Rosie Jacobs celebrates a year of sobriety

The ex-wife of former Today show weatherman Steve Jacobs has celebrated a year of sobriety.

Rosie Jacobs, whose battle with alcohol and relationship troubles are well-documented, now looks younger than ever after ditching booze and picking up healthy habits.

Sharing a gallery of pictures to Instagram to celebrate the milestone, the 42-year-old absolutely glowed as she blew a kiss at the camera.

‘365 days today alcohol free!!! And I have to say, this life is AMAZING!’ she wrote.

‘Today I wake up filled with energy, creativity, a sense of fun, joy and excitement for the future, I am surrounded by extraordinary people who are traveling this amazing road with me, I am the proudest mama bear I could be, I am kicking career goals and living the life I have always dreamed of,’ she added.

‘I feel full and content. I experience peace and I am genuinely happy in my own skin. I still have challenging days, but they don’t rattle me.

‘I am in control of my choices and my actions and I am proud of the woman I am today.

‘I am deeply grateful to all of you – my beautiful family and friends who have had my back every day in every way,’ she said.

It comes after Rosie recently completed the Camino de Santiago, a 800km pilgrimage trail across northern Spain which she found life-changing.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, the former television producer revealed how she put her demons to rest during the adventure, allowing her to re-enter the world an empowered single woman.

‘[The Camino] was physically huge and really challenging and rewarding,’ said the travel writer.

‘But it was also mentally quite a challenge in terms of the internal voice that you use to get yourself through something like that, and the processing you go through.

‘And I think as well, it was quite a spiritual journey and a really soulful adventure.’

Rosie, who walked the Camino alone without the security of a tour group, said there were two reasons why she decided to take on the momentous challenge.

The first was to pay tribute to a friend who recently died, while the second was to celebrate her achievements after a difficult few years.

Rosie went through a messy divorce from Steve in 2017 and previously struggled with alcoholism.

She also had an acrimonious break-up with former AFL player Matt Shir between 2018 and 2019.

‘[I saw the trek] as a celebration of the fact that I’ve gone through quite a lot of emotional stuff in the last five years or so, and I feel like I’ve done a huge amount of personal exploration and changes and healing,’ she said.

‘And I’ve reached a point now where I feel like I’m coming out the other side. And I’m really at peace with who I am and where I’m at, and it feels it good.’

Rosie added of her personal struggles: ‘In the last five years I was diagnosed with complex PTSD, so there’s been a lot of work for me in terms of understanding that and finding ways to manage that.’

‘[I have been] making sure I sleep enough and making sure I do nurturing things for myself physically. Quitting alcohol was one of the things that was really big for me on that level. That really helped me manage anxiety,’ she explained.

By the end of the Camino, Rosie said she was a changed woman.

Rosie also lifted the lid on her dating life, confirming she’s happily single after quietly splitting from her latest flame Alex Daly.

‘It’s been quite a while since Alex and I separated, and in that time I’ve come to really enjoy, for the first time in my adult life, being independent and solo,’ she said.

‘And I actually have enough on my plate at the moment that keeps me really busy. Being a single mum with two young girls and having my own business as a travel journalist. I have never felt so fulfilled and content.’

As for her relationship with ex-husband Steve, things have never been smoother.

The former couple share custody of their two daughters Isabella and Francesca, with Steve having the girls for a month while Rosie walked the Camino.

Rosie described Steve as a ‘great dad’, adding: ‘We have always put the girls first.

‘Steven and I share our time with the girls 50/50. We are taking that as it comes, and we just juggle the dates between us.

‘But our girls have been born into a world where from the day they arrived, Steven was already travelling for work almost every day of the year… so that’s all they’ve ever known with him.

‘It’s actually weird for them to have time with him, without him dropping everything and having to jump on a plane. So it’s been great! He’s had this time with the girls for the first time in a long time.’

She married Steve in 2010, and they officially divorced in 2019.

Steve and Rosie married three years after meeting on the set of the Today show, where he was a star weather presenter and she was a behind-the-scenes producer.

They separated in late 2017, just a few months after relocating to Vanuatu in what friends described as a ‘last-ditch attempt’ to save their seven-year marriage.

She moved on with a Canadian commando Dylan Nash, then AFL player Matt Shir.
