Ross is well known for his gripping and hard-hitting documentaries, and has recently shot a four-part ‘Living With’ series which explores some of Britain’s most critical issues.

And in the midst of his pal’s battle with the disease, the star has been inspired to film a new Living With series on Alzheimer’s.

He told The Mirror: ‘I’d like to do a show on Alzheimer’s. Living With… could be anything, cancer, mental illness, Boris Johnson.’

The star also revealed he’d been keeping in touch with the Carry On legend’s husband Scott, who’d been updating him about her condition.

He said: ‘I spoke to Scott last week. She has good days and days that aren’t so good. She’s affected by light, so when it gets dark it gets difficult.

‘She’s Barbara Windsor and we love her. I’m going to drop by next week.’

Earlier this year, the actor told how Barbara is still is able to recognise him, despite the disease.

‘Barbara has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s but she still knows who I am,’ he told the Daily Star in February.

‘Scott told me a sweet story’, 70-year-old Biggins recalled. ‘When his father died she went down there to support Scott and at the Shiva, which they have at the Jewish faith, she was tap dancing and singing and entertaining the women.

‘It was just like she came to, for a couple of hours, to give her bit to her husband’s father. It was just wonderful. She got wonderful applause.’

The panto favourite – who has been friends with The Carry On star for over 40 years – added that Barbara was looking ‘fantastic’ and ‘fighting fit’ when the pair met for a catch up earlier this month.
