‘I’m taking some time to recover’: Grant Denyer is replaced by Rove McManus as a guest host on Celebrity Name Game amid the presenter’s ongoing health issues

Grant Denyer, 41, previously took time off from co-hosting Dancing With The Stars in March after being hospitalised for suffering a bulging disc injury.

And now the presenter has been temporarily replaced by Rove McManus, 45, as the quizmaster on his show, Celebrity Name Game.

‘It’s no wonder they [Channel 10] chose Rove to take over while I take some time to recover,’ Grant said, noting his back issues had recently resurfaced.

‘The show must go on, and I owe Rove McManus a big thank you for stepping in to my small shoes and hosting Celebrity Name Game for a short stint,’  Grant said in a statement published by TV Tonight on Monday.

Rove, who appeared as a guest on the game show four weeks ago on July 15, will take over as host for the next two weeks, with Grant claiming he’s the ‘top bloke’ for the job.

Grant was forced to take time off from his radio commitments and hosting roles on Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Name Game earlier this year due to back injuries sustained at his rural New South Wales’ farm.

The TV host had also recently disclosed that he had been infected by cryptosporidiosis, a form of parasite, after his family trip to Bali.

Just last month, Grant looked visibly under the weather as he arrived at Sydney Airport with his wife Chezzi, 39, en route to their home in Bathurst.

In 2008, Grant was rushed to Wollongong Hospital, after he broke his back while attempting to drive a 6.5 tonne truck over five cars at the NSW Monster Truck Championships at Dapto Showground.

The father-of-two has also previously admitted to becoming addicted to prescription pain medication following his accident.
