But the attempted jab did not go unnoticed by the 24-year-old who fired back a savage response.

‘Don’t worry dude, I didn’t need to use it when I was chopping you up in Dubai,’ Kyrgios responded to the 45th ranked Kazak.

However Kukushkin did not take the return shot lying down and responded again, this time directly to Kyrgios.

‘That was my answer regarding underarm serve, not to you no need to be rude to other people with no reason,’ the Kazak responded.

But the back and forth was not over yet as the Aussie had one more thing to say.

‘Not sure reminding you of a tennis match is rude, I was just giving you my opinion on our match and the use of the underarm serve,’ Kyrgios replied.

The world number 47 holds an undefeated record over the talented Kazak after defeating him in both encounters including a three set route in the United Arab Emirates.

The post generated thousands of replies with many quick to jump to the defence of the young sportsman.

‘Pure tactic, it’s in the rules! The receiver has the right to stay far behind the line, so the server should also be allowed to serve a drop shot,’ one user responded.

‘Tactic all the way. Maybe not the best and it won’t work all the time, but sometimes it could help you get that important point,’ another added.

While others felt the opposite about the underarm serve.

‘Rude and disrespectful,’ one angry user replied.

‘Only losers use it,’ another added.
