Rows over multi-million-pound deals could delay Megxit departure for SIX MONTHS, royal sources say

Rows over multi-million-pound deals could delay Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Megxit departure date for up to six months, royal sources said last night.

Despite Prince Harry’s brave face at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, sources say a deal allowing the couple to sign lucrative commercial contracts will take months to iron out.

The Queen is understood to have asked her staff to give her solutions within days, but an insider told The Mirror: ‘So many questions need addressing, all of which will take up to six months to get over the line.’

Buckingham Palace is expected to make an announcement on Friday to update the public on how the unprecedented arrangement is going to operate.

The source told the paper: ‘The best there will be in the immediate future is a half-way house that will look like a deal is in place to placate all parties while everyone else puts their lives on hold until this is sorted.’

It comes after the Queen confirmed in a deeply personal statement on Monday that there would be a ‘period of transition’ after the couple forced a move to split their time between Canada and the UK.

Government sources have also said they have staff working ’round the clock’ to help resolve the issue.

‘This is not something we can just magic up. Those at the Palace were left aghast as the Sussexes’ plans were revealed so soon after being virtually nonexistent apart from publishing a new website.’ A source told The Mirror.

‘It requires a great deal of work on complex issues such as tax, copyright, intellectual property, not to mention a legal agreement with the royal institution over using the royal brand in the private sector.’

Harry made perhaps his last appearance as a fully fledged royal yesterday, helping with the draws for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Sussex will remain in the country into early next week to continue thrashing out the details of his and his wife’s decision to step down.

He will then return to Canada where Meghan and Archie are staying at the £11million mansion on Vancouver Island where the family spent Christmas.

Meghan had returned to Vancouver last Thursday less than a day after the pair announced they were quitting ‘The Firm’, a decision understood to have been driven by the Duchess.

It was revealed today that the Sussexes staff were being ‘let go’ from their Frogmore Cottage residence at Windsor Castle.

It comes just months after the property underwent a £2.4million renovation.

Meanwhile Meghan has thrown herself into charitable activity on the other side of the Atlantic, appearing in photos with two feminist groups this week.

On Tuesday she made a surprise visit to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre and the shelter posted a photograph on its Facebook page of Meghan with a group of eight women, with the caption: ‘Look who we had tea with today!

‘The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, visited us today to discuss issues affecting women in the community.’

On Tuesday, Meghan was seen for the first time since the bombshell news. She broke cover leaving the £11million mansion where she has been holed up since last week to visit a women's shelter in Canada's poorest neighbourhood (pictured)

It was revealed a ‘mysterious’ email from a Hotmail account arrived asking if Meghan could drop in to see the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.

It came from Meghan’s ‘assistant’ – not a royal aide, according to the centre’s boss Kate Gibson.

Meghan then paid a visit to Justice for Girls with Zoe Craig-Sparrow, the co-director, saying they were honoured to have Meghan join them.

She said: ‘The Duchess met with our Co-Directors as well as representatives from our Board of Directors and staff. The Duchess put everyone at ease and had a really engaged discussion with us for 90 minutes about our work and the rights of teenage girls who live in poverty. We were honored that she chose to have this conversation with us and is interested in the work we do’.
