Roxy Jacenko buries the hatchet with gossip columnist Andrew Hornery

Sydney PR guru Roxy Jacenko has finally ended her years-long feud with gossip columnist Andrew Hornery.

The pair, who famously clashed in 2018 after Hornery mocked Jacenko’s outfit at a fundraiser, buried the hatchet last month after meeting for lunch at a trendy restaurant in Paddington, Sydney.

Hornery noted in his Sydney Morning Herald column on Thursday that both he and Jacenko had become ‘mutually beneficial adversaries’ over the years.

Friends again! PR guru Roxy Jacenko (left) has buried the hatchet with her media nemesis Andrew Hornery (right), three years after she branded the gossip columnist ‘a bitter old man’ for mocking the designer dress she wore to a fundraiser

‘Just as Jacenko has been a rich seam of stories to me, those stories kept her in the news cycle that underpinned her career,’ he wrote.

Hornery explained he’d apologised to Jacenko for the mean-spirited stories he’d written about her personal life in the past.

‘Admittedly, I have described her as a “publicity-seeking missile” on more than one occasion,’ he said, adding that Jacenko had once responded to his jibes by calling him a ‘bitter and twisted old man’.

He also apologised for the way he’d reported on Jacenko’s breast cancer diagnosis in 2016.

At the time, Hornery had accused the PR mogul of using her health battle to drum up publicity, especially after she had tumour removed on a 60 Minutes special.

‘It is topic which I admit I owe her a long overdue apology after cynically reporting on the media attention before 60 Minutes filmed her surgery,’ he wrote.

The pair’s decision to make peace comes three years after Hornery and Jacenko clashed in a highly publicised media slanging match.

In May 2018, the writer mocked the publicist for wearing a powder blue ‘mullet’ dress designed by Velani to the Gold Dinner fundraiser in Sydney.

Hornery remarked upon Jacenko’s ensemble after she returned it to its Five Dock shop shortly after wearing it on the red carpet.

Snarky: Under the headline, 'Mullet Dress Swims Upstream', Hornery wrote: 'Barely 48 hours after it had hung from the fake-tanned frame of one Roxy Jacenko, the over-the-top Italian tulle "mullet" dress was back in the window of Five Dock "couturier" Velani'

The mother of two swiftly hit back, telling Daily Mail Australia at the time: ‘Heavens, he really is a bitter old man.’

Days later, Hornery returned fire by sharing a photo to Instagram of a western Sydney fashion boutique alongside the caption: ‘Fairfield “couturier” Rose’s – sadly no sign of any mullets.’

One weeks later, Hornery criticised Jacenko for claiming that her ‘mullet’ dress was a ‘one off’ design, insisting that the frock was in fact very similar to one recently worn by Italian fashionista Chiara Ferragni.

Jacenko retorted by uploading a picture of a different ‘mullet’ style dress, while sarcastically writing in the caption: ‘How on earth did you miss this one?’

‘Oh wow, I’ll be damned – another mullet frock – maybe we can go week four from four with the stories in your column, Andrew? How on earth did you miss this one?’ she wrote on her Instagram Story.
