Roxy Jacenko reveals she indulged in drugs and alcohol while husband Oliver Curtis was in jail

Roxy Jacenko appeared alongside her husband Oliver Curtis on Channel Seven’s Sunday Night on Sunday, and she did not hold back.

The PR maven revealed that she ‘went rouge’ after her husband was jailed for insider trading in 2016, indulging in all-night partying, drugs and alcohol.

The 38-year-old told the program:  ‘I think I started living a life very quickly as soon as Ollie went to jail that was fast. And that was drinking too much and consuming things that I shouldn’t have been consuming… I went rogue, basically.’

She continued: ‘I would go out, and I’d come home at all hours of the morning. I basically lost my marbles.’

The ‘nights out’ culminated in a car accident which Roxy doesn’t remember.

‘I remember driving Ollie’s car and parking it and then the next day going downstairs and looking at it, and it was all smashed up.

‘And I was like, “I don’t even remember how I did it.”‘

The Sweaty Betty founder goes on to admit that she was ‘living on alcohol and drugs’.

And Oliver, who was in jail at the time, was helpless to stop his wife’s decline.

‘I knew what was happening. She wouldn’t listen to me. I’d try and bring her into line, and it was just ridiculous’ he told the program.

Roxy admitted that the behaviour was a ‘coping mechanism’ and she ‘isn’t sure’ how she survived that period unscathed.

The blonde businesswoman has openly discussed having a ‘nervous breakdown’ after her husband Oliver was jailed in 2016.

The businessman spent 12 months in jail for conspiracy to commit insider trading.

Oliver served the majority of his time at Cooma Correctional Centre, before his release in June 2017.

The PR mogul admitted that she was given antidepressant medication when she ‘reached a ‘breaking point’ 11 months after Oliver was imprisoned.

She told the Sunday Night program she’d reached such a low point, she’d considered suicide, with only thoughts of her two children stopping her.

‘I was very close to standing at The Gap. I wouldn’t have coped,’ Roxy revealed.

The PF mogul added: ‘The only thing that stopped me was the fact that and they needed me’.

Speaking to the Financial Review, Roxy revealed she begged a doctor for help during her darkest days.

Roxy told the publication that he said to her GP: ‘You need to admit me to a clinic.’

At that time she was prescribed her the antidepressant Effexor, which the Sweaty Betty founder has continued to use.

Candid about her experience, Roxy says that receiving the help she needs is nothing to be ashamed of.

‘It’s not something to be ashamed of. If that’s what I need to do to make sure that I am a good mother, a good boss, I deliver on the job that I have to do, and that I’m happy and confident, so be it,’ she tells the publication.

‘How has this happened to me?’ she asks herself, before Melissa says that the PR mogul ‘went off the rails.’

Speaking to Sunday Night, Roxy admitted she was ‘resentful’ of her husband for ‘placing her’ in a bad situation when he was jailed, leaving her to cope alone.

Roxy has previously said that raising her two children, Pixie, four, and Hunter, six, alone while managing her business empire, made her ‘lose her marbles’.

The family is now reunited, and mending their wounds, however the fallout of their difficult days has continued.

In April, Roxy told Daily Mail Australia that Oliver was still struggling to overcome his time behind bars.

At the time, she said the former investment banker got emotional when they drove past Sydney’s Surry Hills holding cells.

‘We don’t really talk about (his sentence). Oli has said previously it’s something he has blocked out of his mind,’ Roxy said.

‘When we drove past Surry Hills holding cells after a meal and he was quite distressed, he mentioned being in there was the worst two weeks of his life.’

She added: ‘I’m told these cells are usually for prisoners for 24 to 48 hours. For him, it was two weeks and something he never wants to remember.’
