Roy Keane has brutally slammed Liverpools defence after Jurgen Klopp’s men went 2-1 down to Arsenal in Sunday afternoon’s crunch Premier League clash at Anfield.
The league leaders got off to a fast start, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring within ten minutes, taking advantage of a terrible mix up at the back for the home side, tapping around Alisson Becker in goal.
Gabriel Jesus would put the Gunners 2-0 up just 20 minutes later, rising high above Virgil van Dijk, who stood and watched Martinelli’s cross sail over his head, allowing the Arsenal forward to head past the goalkeeper.
It was a dismal start defensively for the Reds and the Sky Pundit did not hold back, calling out their defenders at half-time.
‘Really poor defending. Liverpool not at it. No intensity. Jesus standing in the middle of the box,’ Keane said.
‘Van Dijk’s ball watching. There’s no pressure on the ball. Far too easy for Arsenal. I bet he can’t believe his luck.
‘Robertson’s efforts to get back – you’ve got to do better than that. Liverpool’s defending is like a pub team. They’re all over the place. They are a mess.’
