The man is the second Australian to die from coronavirus in Western Australia.

Seven people have died from the virus in New South Wales, with three deaths in Victoria and one in Queensland.

The Ruby Princess returned to Sydney last Thursday with 1,148 crew and 2,647 passengers on board – all who disembarked the vessel without going through any health screenings or assessments for COVID-19.

There are still around 1,100 crew members on the Ruby Princess, some of whom have developed flu-like symptoms.

Since then, at least 133 passengers have tested positive for coronavirus – which makes the ship Australia’s largest source of infections.

Two men in their 70s died in Victoria overnight, along with another on Thursday to be the first deaths from coronavirus in the state.

The first Australian victim of coronavirus was a 78-year-old man from Perth, who was quarantined at Howard Springs in the Northern Territory after disembarking from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan and died on March 1.

A 95-year-old woman from Dorothy Henderson Lodge in Macquarie Park in north Sydney passed away on March 3, with two other residents of the nursing home also falling victim.

An 82-year-old man died on March 8, before a 90-year-old woman passed away on March 14.

The fifth victim was a 77-year-old woman who died on March 13 in a Sydney hospital after rapidly developing symptoms on a plane from Queensland earlier that day.

An 86-year-old man died in hospital in Sydney on March 17, before an 81-year-old woman passed away on March 19 after being in contact with another person with the virus in Ryde Hospital.

A woman in her 70s was the eighth victim who contracted the disease on the Ruby Princess cruise ship.

She was rushed to hospital on March 14 and died in hospital ten days later on March 24.

More to come.
