Rugby legend Mat Rogers aims to make his late mother Carol proud

Football legend Mat Rogers has said that he and his late mother Carol used to hold Survivor viewing nights before she died in 2001.

And now the 42-year-old plans to make her proud when he appears on the upcoming season of the reality show.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Sunday, the sports star said that he knows his mother would be ‘so rapt’ he’s set to feature on the program.

‘I feel all warm and fuzzy being here knowing that she would be so rapt, she would be loving the fact that I’m on this show. I’m stoked,’ Mat told the publication.

‘It blows my mind that I’m now here doing it,’ he added.

Having watched ‘almost every season’ of Survivor Australia, Mat said that he had no hesitation about appearing and did everything he could to be on the show.

The upcoming season of Survivor Australia will carry a new ‘Champions v Contenders’ theme.

Mat will be part of a team of ‘champions of public life’, which consists of athletes and public figures such as AFLW star Moana Hope and Olympic legend Shane Gould.

They will be pitted against ordinary Aussies in a showdown for the $500,000 prize.

While it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in the new season, Mat already knows what he plans to do with the prize money if he wins.

The football star will use his prize money to take his documentary-loving autistic son to Africa.

He also plans to use the money to support his charity 4 ASD Kids, which helps autistic kids.

The upcoming season of Survivor Australia is set to air on Network Ten later this year.
