Russia has hosted a ‘man slapping’ championship in Siberia which saw one competitor knocked out with a single strike.
The bizarre contest, held in Krasnoyarsk last weekend, saw men line up on opposite sides of a podium and take turns to slap each other in the face.
According to Russian media the contestants were not allowed to block their opponent’s strikes or duck out of the way.
Footage shared by Russian broadcaster NTV showed a contest between a large bearded man and a smaller contestant with dark hair.
Face-off: Tournament winner Vasily Kamotsky, right, squares up against an opponent in a white shirt during a bizarre slapping championship in Siberia last weekend
The bearded player suffers no visible damage from the other man’s strike before flooring his opponent with a fierce blow.
After spectators help the smaller man to his feet the fight appears to resume, but his attack on the larger player once again has little impact.
The winning contestant, Vasily Kamotsky, then delivers the knockout blow as a referee signals that the fight is over.
Kamotsky is said to have received a prize of some 30,000 rubles (£350 or $466) for his efforts.
Ineffective: The clean-shaven contestant launches an attack with his right hand but it barely troubles the larger competitor
Thump: The bearded contestant slams the palm of his hand into his opponent’s cheek in a brutal strike during the championship in Krasnoyarsk
All over: An official signals the end of the fight while the defeated player is kept upright by spectators following Kamotsky’s victory
The competition formed part of the Siberian Power Show, a two-day extravaganza which also featured pole dancing and ‘mass wrestling’.
The ‘slap championship’ was timetabled as a two-hour event on the second day of the Power Show in Siberia.
Tickets to the Krasnoyarsk showpiece cost 400 rubles (five pounds, or six U.S. dollars).
According to Stolitsa the fight is over when one of the contestants refuses to fight any longer.
The stand between the players is said to be there to help them balance as they are not allowed to defend themselves.
