Nearly 2000 scantily-clad skiers stripped down to their bikinis and swim trunks in what has been dubbed the ‘world’s nuttiest ski event’ this weekend.
The snow sports enthusiasts spent the Easter weekend taking part in BoogelWoogel in Sochi, Russia wearing almost nothing in the snow and 12 C temperatures.
Around 20,000 people took to the pistes with around 1,800 reportedly participating in the wacky attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest downhill ride in swimsuits.
The festival started on Thursday and will run until Easter Monday.
The current world record for bikini-clad skiers is held by the skiing carnival which took place in Sochi in 2016 with 1,008 participants.
In 2017, the Siberian Sheregesh resort attempted to beat the record set in Sochi and entered the Russian Book of Records with 1498 skiers and snowboarders, but didn’t provide enough evidence to get an official ruling from Guinness.
Other events at the festival included skijumping into a swimming pool, a festival of colours celebration alike to Holi, and live music.
