The sister of disgraced deputy mayor Salim Mehajer has started up a charity to help women in need following the end of her troubled marriage with a notorious bikie enforcer.

Sanaa Mehajer announced her new charity Girls on a Mission (GOAM) this week on social media after her marriage to Moudi Tajjour ended after he allegedly verbally and physically abused her.

The incident resulted in her taking out an AVO against Mouhamed ‘Moudi’ Tajjour but he did not face charges over the claims.

Sanaa previously said she knew the relationship was over on her honeymoon when he allegedly called her names.

She said that she knew about his violent past including his manslaughter verdict over the death of George Nassour but said she did not see bad behaviour from him before they were married.

Her new charity aims to help disadvantaged women in Australia and overseas with a focus on transparency.

‘GOAM aims to improve the lives of women by reducing poverty, distress, exploitation and violence and abuse against women,’ the charity said online.

The GOAM Instagram page shows the organisation is taking part in Menstrual Hygiene Day by sending 300 Packets of Pad to a Nigeria slum to help educate women on the importance of proper hygiene.

It comes as Sanaa’s older brother Salim was released from Cooma Jail this week following his 11-month sentence for election fraud.

Salim Mehajer’s own marriage to Aysha Learmonth ended just 11 months after their huge wedding made headlines as it closed down a Sydney street with a lavish display of wealth in 2015.
