Sally Field’s son Sam Greisman has reached out to Olympian figure skater Adam Rippon to apologize after his mother publicly tried to make a match between the men.

Greisman, a 30-year-old filmmaker, sent Rippon, a 28-year-old Pennsylvania native, a direct message via Twitter ‘to apologize for his mom embarrassingly trying to set them up,’ an Olympic insider told Page Six Tuesday.

However, the figure skating Bronze medalist left open the door to an eventual meeting with Greisman.

He revealed to Buzzfeed that he told Greisman, ‘Sam, your mom – I admire her. And I’m sure one day we’re going to meet!’

Chatter of a would-be romance between Greisman and Rippon erupted via social media on Friday when Greisman took to Twitter to reveal that The Forrest Gump star was nudging him to ‘find a way’ to reach out to Rippon.

He wrote, ‘Just some really helpful advice from my mom on how to deal with my Olympic crush,’ along with a screengrab of the discussion, in which Field, who called the Olympian ‘insanely pretty.’

Amid the public attempt at fixing up the men, Greisman had a noteworthy exchange with one Twitter user who implored him to immerse himself in religion as a means to ‘turn from homosexuality.’

The user identifying himself as Mike Jones, wrote: ‘Sam I don’t know you and you don’t know me. Interesting advice your Mom gave concerning your crush on Adam.

‘My unsolicited advice, consult Jesus (God) and turn from homosexuality. He loves/wants what’s best for you, even more than your Mom. Why offer advice? Because I love you.’

Greisman responded, ‘Interesting thoughts Mike. Does Jesus give good h***? Cuz that’s really all I care about. Love you!’

Rippon’s sexuality has provided a minor footnote to his performance on the ice, as he’s the first openly gay man to be an Olympic qualifier. He said last month that he had no interest in meeting with Vice President Mike Pence, known for his staunch views against same sex marriage, as part of his Olympic experience.

‘I personally have nothing to say to Mike Pence,’ Rippon said in a tweet last month. ‘Given the chance to talk after the Olympics, I would want to bring with me people whose lives have been hurt by legislation he has championed.’

The bold stance against the vice president drew plaudits from Field, who called him ‘amazing’ in a tweet just prior to her matchmaking attempt.

‘Your Olympics won’t be about Mike Pence,’ she wrote. ‘They will be about your excellence and your grace. And all the young boys and girls you’re inspiring.’
