The Frida star completed her dressy ensemble with a pair of sky-high black, satin platform heels.

She looked classic with her brunette hair blown out and parted at the center as the bouncy locks cascaded over her shoulders.

After the tributes, Salma graciously accepted her honor and gave a heartfelt speech to the crowd of attendees.

Speaking directly to her devout followers she said, ‘All my lovely fans, if you ask yourselves what gave me the courage to fan, I say it was you, because although they didn’t know me here in Hollywood – the studios – all the Latins in the United States knew who I was. They understood that I came here with dreams like they did.’

Despite going through moments when some Americans weren’t welcoming, the Hollywood megastar was adamant on making a name for herself here.

‘I remember the studio saying to me many times, ‘Why don’t you go back to the (Mexican) telenovelas? You’ll never find a job here.’ And of course this night, I almost got killed,’ Salma shared with the crowd. ‘So I said, ‘Nobody wants me here. They want me in my country.’

‘The one thing that I stayed for was for the love of cinema,’ she added as she reflected on her difficult time adjusting to life in America after moving to the states from Mexico.

For her latest project, Hayek plays Pina Auriemma  in Lady Gaga-led film House of Gucci, which she’s been busy promoting recently.

She added that the weight she had to gain for the role was ‘impossible’ to get off.
