Sam Kerr and her girlfriend Kristie Mewis head out for a post-match dinner date in Double Bay

Samantha Kerr and her U.S. soccer star girlfriend Kristie Mewis have been inseparable since they confirmed their romance in August.

And on Sunday, the couple appeared loved-up-as-ever as they headed out for a post-match dinner date just hours after facing off against each other on the field.

The Matildas captain, 28, and her American girlfriend, 30, were spotted hand-in-hand as they visited a convenience store in Sydney’s Double Bay to pick up a drink before making their way to a nearby restaurant.

Samantha and Kristie opted for comfort, both stepping out wearing casual attire for the outing.

Kerr was dressed in a black hoodie which she teamed up with a pair of Nike shorts and white sneakers.

She wore her brunette tresses tied back in a bun.

Kristie meanwhile opted for an all-black ensemble which consisted of a sweater,  leggings and black sneakers.

The couple took safety precautions by wearing a face mask. 

Sam showed no hard feelings towards her girlfriend, despite being defeated by the US team, with a 3-0 win.

At dinner, the couple were seen laughing and chatting while they patiently waited for their meals. 

Saturday’s match marked the first time the pair – who last met competitively at the Tokyo Olympics – have played against each other since going ‘Instagram official’ back in August.

Arguably the world’s greatest female footballer at the moment, Kerr previously dated long-time girlfriend Nikki Stanton for almost eight years before quietly splitting early this year.

It’s understood Kerr told friends at the time that she and Stanton, who is also a high-profile American footballer in her own right, had ‘fallen out of love’.

Soon after their split, talk that Kerr and Mewis had begun dating began to circulate in football gossip circles. 

Talk of a burgeoning fling reached fever pitch in Tokyo when the couple were photographed embracing in the moments following Australia’s loss to the US in the bronze medal playoff match.

Soon after Kerr confirmed the rumours, posting a series of loved-up snaps with Mewis on Instagram.

Mewis, too, went public on her social media with the couple documenting a series of PDA’s while holidaying in a series of exotic locations.
