Samantha Armytage red-faced after urging people to boycott media in furious rant

Sunrise host Samantha Armytage lashed out at several media outlets for reporting on her personal life in an Instagram rant on Monday – before making an embarrassing edit.

In the 43-year-old journalist’s initial post, she furiously urged her followers to boycott The Sunday Telegraph over its ‘rubbish journalism’, despite the fact she is paid to write a weekly column for the newspaper’s weekend magazine, Stellar.

But after presumably remembering her weekly pay cheque from News Corp, she quickly removed all references to the publication from her fiery post.

Oh, dear! Sam Armytage has slammed a newspaper for reporting about her personal life, before editing her post to remove an embarrassing gaffe

Sam’s initial post read: ‘The silliness around my private life in the tabloids right now has reached peak stupidity. I ask you all to ignore (& not buy!) Woman’s Day, the Daily Mail and The Sunday Telegraph.

‘The “sources” quoted are made up. It’s rubbish “journalism” and should be illegal. Paparazzi sit outside my house and follow me around town all day.

‘It’s so boring for me, and no doubt for you too. Thnx, Sam x.’

After deleting and re-uploading the post, the reference to The Sunday Telegraph was deleted, with her frustrations directed solely at Woman’s Day and Daily Mail Australia.

Whoops! In Sam's original Instagram post (pictured), she furiously urged her followers to boycott The Sunday Telegraph over its 'rubbish journalism', despite the fact she is paid to write a weekly column for the newspaper's weekend supplement, Stellar magazine

Sam did, however, remember not to mention New Idea in the rant, despite the publication also reporting on her personal life.

New Idea is published by Pacific Magazines, the publishing arm of Sam’s employer Seven West Media.

The omission did not go unnoticed, with Matrix Media Group, a leading Australian photo agency, commenting below the post: ‘What about New Idea? You didn’t mention them… can we read New Idea, Sam?’

Blind spot: Interestingly, Sam did not reference New Idea magazine, which also regularly reports on her personal life, in either version of her Instagram post. This is perhaps because New Idea is published by Pacific Magazines, the publishing arm of Seven West Media

Sam’s post comes after she was photographed on several occasions with her new boyfriend Richard Lavender. Multiple publications have run pictures of the couple and Sam has never denied the relationship.

Earlier this month, Sam and Richard were pictured shopping at a jewellery shop in Double Bay known for its bespoke engagement rings.

Over the weekend, the Sunday Telegraph quoted a source as saying that these photos showed Sam ‘shopping for a 43rd birthday present’.

On Monday, Woman’s Day published another set of photos, which showed Sam out for lunch with Richard and his two daughters while celebrating his 60th birthday.

The magazine quoted a source as saying Richard’s daughters approve of Sam.

During an interview on The Kyle & Jackie O Show in June, Sam confirmed she had a ‘secret lover’ but did not reveal Richard’s identity.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Sam’s representatives for comment.
