Samantha Armytage’s shock new career move: Ex-Sunrise host announces she’s joining the upcoming season of Farmer Wants a Wife to help Aussies find love


Samantha Armytage is not looking back since her shock exit from Sunrise back in March. 

It was announced on Tuesday that the 45-year-old journalist and TV presenter will be joining the upcoming season of Farmer Wants a Wife as a guest star. 

Sam will join longtime host Natalie Gruzlewski on the show and will help Aussies find love, after her own experience marrying ‘farmer’ and equestrian businessman Richard Lavender.

In a statement, Sam said: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining Farmer Wants A Wife in 2022.’

‘I’ve always been a huge fan of the show and of country people, and I know first-hand that falling in love with a farmer is just about the most wonderful thing you can do,’ Sam added. 

Sam will be a guest star on the show with her own segment called Sam’s Choice.

On the show, Sam will ‘introduce farmers to a new lady based on her own expertise and experience’. 

Seven’s Director of Programming, Angus Ross, said in a statement that the network is thrilled to welcome Sam back to screens. 

‘It’s fantastic to welcome Sam back to our screens,’ Angus said. 

‘Farmer Wants A Wife has been such a hit with audiences because of its heart and Natalie’s earnest mission to help farmers find the love of their lives.’

He added: ‘Given Sam’s new life on the farm, she’s in the perfect position to share a snapshot of what farm life could look like for the ladies.’

Sam married millionaire horse breeder Richard Lavender, 60, on New Year’s Eve and live on a sprawling 40-hectare property in the Southern Highlands.  

The couple tied the knot at Richard’s country estate, after announcing their engagement in June last year.

They married at about midday, then moved to a luncheon at the Centennial Vineyards Restaurant in nearby Bowral.

Sam quit Sunrise in March and relocated from Sydney to the Southern Highlands. 

The new season of the show guest starring Sam will premiere next year on Channel Seven.
