Santa drops by zoo to visit ‘crankiest croc in Australia’

  • The Australian Reptile Park in Somersby had an early Christmas visit from Santa
  • Breathtaking footage shows him trying to feed a big feisty crocodile named Elvis
  • He also delivered gifts to koalas, wombats, dingoes, a tortoise and a sleepy owl

Santa Claus took a break from delivering toys and presents to children, and instead stacked his sleigh full of treats for animals at the Australian Reptile Park.

Footage from Sunday afternoon shows St. Nick delivering delicious treats to the park’s animals, including some feisty crocodiles and a sleepy koala.

According to Channel 7, Santa enjoyed his trip to the zoo but ‘would not let his reindeer anywhere near the alligator enclosure.’

The jolly Father Christmas first visited Elvis, Australia’s crankiest crocodile, fed him a special Christmas lunch – and narrowly avoided becoming lunch himself.

‘We were so lucky at The Australian Reptile Park to get a special early visit from Santa himself this morning!’ the delighted park staff.

‘He bought along presents for all the animals!’

Much to the delight of the crowds who were there on the day, St. Nick walked between enclosures with a sack thrown over his shoulder with the words ‘Santa Clause Is Coming To Town’ emblazoned on it.

He stopped to feed a large tortoise chunks of sweet potato and cuddle a wombat, before pulling a huge bone out of this sack and giving to to a delighted dingo.

A grinning Santa could also be seen helping a koala nibble on some gum leaves, patting an owl and then being chased through the park by a lumbering wombat.
