The Finnish singer, who is based in Los Angeles, explained that when she was new in the music business, she was ‘working with people who put me on an extreme weight loss diet and they made me work out six times a week on top of dance rehearsals’.

However, when her first single failed to succeed, she lost her record deal and with it, ‘the luxury of having a personal trainer’.

Sara shot to fame in 2014 when her video What Languages Sound Like to Foreigners” was posted on YouTube.

Viewed over 17 million times her ability to mimic accents and languags, which included Japanese, English, American with a California accent, Swedish, French, Arabic and Spanish, using mainly nonexistent words, led to an appearance on The Ellen Show.

In 2015 she signed a record deal with Capitol Records and her debut single Ur Cool was released in the April of that year.

In February 2016, she left Capitol Records due to differences with her executive producer.

And in March 2016, Sara took to her YouTube channel to discuss the reasons why she left her record label, and explained that ‘irreconcilable differences’ between her and her producer led her to walk away from her deal.

‘My whole artistry, my whole brand basically was my executive producer’s vision of me and not my own. And that’s why Ur Cool sucked so hard. I hate the song,’ she shared.

Her producer also had a 50/50 revenue split with the record label on Sara’s deal so when he left Capitol Records, she wasn’t permitted to put out any music independently without him.

‘A lot of stuff went down that year, I was kind of having a bit of a financial struggle at the time and I had bumps in my relationship,’ she explained in her most recent video.

‘I developed this crippling social anxiety that led to loneliness that led to depression so everything was just kind of falling apart around me.’

It was then that she began turning to food for comfort – and as a form of stability in her life, at a time when it felt anything but stable.

‘I found like the only consistent thing in my life was delivery pizza,’ she said.

‘Pizza never treats you badly, unless you have too much of it and you develop diabetes and die,’ she joked.

‘One thing led to another and I ended up gaining a lot of weight. I know that in my last video I said I gained 30 pounds but I gained 50.

‘Getting fat sucks because you grow out of all of your clothes and you realize that the shops that you used to love shopping at , they don’t carry your sizes anymore, Sara added.

Depressed: Sara also admitted in her video that she was ‘miserable’ being bigger and wanted to get healthy again (pictured left in May 2015 and right in March 2018)

However, she added that she didn’t want to offend ‘anyone who is super into body positivity because a lot of my good friends are and I can totally respect that’.

However, she explained that for her personally, she’s ‘miserable when I’m bigger’.

‘I have asthma, it’s bad for me. Also I’m super tall so when I get big, I just look like an ogre. In ogreland that would be awesome but human organs are not designed to be encumbered by excessive body fat. They don’t function properly. I don’t feel like I function properly.’

She concluded that she knew her weight gain was ‘as simple as food’ and that he depression and loneliness meant she didn’t leave her house.

However, she concluded that she was hopeful she would be able to get a grip on her binge eating habits and make a start on a lifestyle change.
