Sarah Ferguson promotes her children’s books in Las Vegas

She enjoyed a big moment at the weekend when she attended the royal wedding after years in the wilderness.

But it was back to business for the Duchess of York who stepped out in Las Vegas last night to promote her series of children’s books, Little Red.

The mother-of-two, 58, looked smart in a blue dress and black jacket, teamed with a pair of her favourite navy velvet slippers, embellished with butterflies.

Fergie was at the Licensing Expo at The Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada to show off her books, which feature the adventures of an inquisitive and brave red-haired rag doll.

She previously penned a series of children’s stories, Budgie The Helicopter, to help her daughters feel close to her ex-husband Prince Andrew while he was away with the RAF.

Back down to earth! Fergie was on the promotional trail for her children’s books in Las Vegas, just a few days after attending the royal wedding

On Saturday, Fergie was among the guests as Prince Harry married Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.

Dressed in a navy skirt suit, Jess Collet hat and towering heels, Sarah arrived separately from her daughters and ex-husband, who followed with the rest of the royal family at 11:20am, via the Galilee Porch.

Beaming widely and waving to crowds, Sarah was seen giving her future son-in-law, Jack Brooksbank, a hug before heading inside.

She told reporters: ‘I have had a lovely day and it is wonderful to see so many people out for this lovely occasion.’

Fergie has remained close to her nephew despite difficult family politics; she went skiing with Harry and his then-girlfriend Cressida Bonas in 2013, and the groom is particularly close to her youngest daughter Eugenie.

Prince Harry personally intervened to make sure she had an invitation to his wedding to Meghan Markle and the first reception after years in the royal wilderness.

Reports suggested that the Duchess was ‘deeply unhappy’ about being excluded from the evening reception at Frogmore House.

However, a source close to the mother of Eugenie and Beatrice denied that she felt snubbed.

‘She was delighted to be asked to the wedding and to be there for Prince Harry. She did not expect in any way to be asked to the smaller evening reception,’ they said.

‘She is divorced from Prince Andrew, though close to him, and as with most families it is not usual to invite ex-aunts and uncles.

‘She was touched to have been included in the wedding service and reception.’

Fergie will play a starring role in another royal wedding in a few months time when her daughter Eugenie marries Jack Brooksbank.
