Sarah Harris SLAMS Golden Globes all-black protest

On Monday morning, Jessica Rowe described the Golden Globes’ all-black outfit protest as ‘dumb’.

And it didn’t take long for fellow Studio 10 star Sarah Harris to chime in with a similar opinion later that day.

Reinforcing the view held by her colleague, the 36-year-old took aim at the campaign, seemingly suggesting she thought Hollywood stars could have done more to protest sexual harassment and assault.

Hitting back! Taking to Twitter on Monday, Studio 10’s Sarah Harris (pictured) slammed the Golden Globes protest where stars wore all-black on the red carpet

Posting to her Twitter account, Sarah wrote: ‘Wearing black to the #GoldenGlobes is the celebrity equivalent of using a twibbon on Facebook.’

A follower then questioned: ‘What would you have had them done, Sarah? I don’t think any Hollywood awards shows can take place this year without recognising what’s occurred over the past few months’

The TV personality hit back at the question, explaining she thought donning all-black attire wasn’t enough.

‘Boycott the red carpet altogether? Refuse to be seen as an ornament for one night?’ Sarah offered as alternatives.

On Monday’s edition of Studio 10, Jessica called Time’s Up red carpet protest ‘dumb’ and ‘tokenistic’, claiming celebrities should have boycotted the carpet altogether for greater impact.

‘It is wonderful women are finding their voice, that we are speaking up, but to me it is dumb to wear black on the red carpet,’ she said on Network Ten’s morning show.

‘They’re still going to be wearing designer black, they’re going to still be looking gorgeous and wonderful.’

She added: ‘To me, it is tokenistic and it’s not a good way of sending the right message.’

Not on board? Her co-host Joe Hildebrand (second from left) also took issue with the protest, which he described as 'strange'

The mother-of-two said the celebrity guests could have opted to not attend the ceremony or, at least, wear red or purple instead to represent ‘defiance’.

In recognition of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements against sexual harassment in Hollywood and other industries, attendees chose to wear black at the awards show.
