Sarah Jessica Parker reveals the 2006 Met Gala ‘wasn’t a fun night’ because of her nerves while discussing ten of her most memorable looks from the event: ‘I was so nervous’

While taking a look back at her most memorable Met Gala looks of all time, Sarah Jessica Parker dished about her best and worst memories of the event.

In a new video posted to Vogue’s YouTube channel on Monday, the 57-year-old Sex and the City star revealed her second Met Gala ‘wasn’t a fun night’ due to her nerves attending with late designer Alexander McQueen.

As she looked at an image of herself rocking a red plaid sash dress back in 2006, the mother-of-three revealed why she was hesitant asking McQueen to attend with her.

‘A bunch of things came to my mind,’ Parker told the outlet. ‘He would say no, he’s already been asked, he’s called for, he’s obliged. And I didn’t really know him well enough to be so presumptuous.’

Despite him happily agreeing to accompany her, she said looking back at the photo she was struck by ‘how careful’ and ‘cautious’ her movements were.

‘The shyer he was, the more shy I became,’ the four-time Golden Globe winner confessed.

Of the night, Parker concluded: ‘It wasn’t a fun night. Like, it was, but it wasn’t because I was so nervous. I just wanted him to be okay.’

Still she said she ‘was in love’ with the designer, who passed away in 2010.

The wife of Matthew Broderick also noted she saved every pin and scrap of fabric he touched from each of her dress fittings from that evening.

‘I had to sit on the floor [of the car] to get to the Met—because the headpiece did not fit if I sat in a seat,’ she mused.
