SAS Australia 2022: Meet the new directing staff

Channel Seven revealed two new directing staff (DS) would be joining SAS Australia for the 2022 season – each who have some very impressive credentials.

During an explosive new trailer released on Monday, chief instructor Ant Middleton confirmed US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott were joining the show, alongside returning DS Ollie Ollerton.

Emerson was the first to be introduced, with Middleton announcing: ‘He served 20 years as a Navy SEAL, in the US unit that took out Osama bin Laden.’

‘We have a saying in Texas,’ Emerson said. ‘Don’t mess with Texas. Meaning, nothing will get in our way.

‘That is the same attitude that these recruits better have.’

After spending decades serving the US in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan, Emerson now runs a crisis management company, is a successful author and has his own podcast called ‘Can You Survive This Podcast?’

Meanwhile, Dean Stott, 44, confirms he is good friends with Prince Harry after working alongside him for years during his army career.

Stott introduces himself by saying: ‘I served 16 years in the military.

‘I trained alongside Prince Harry, and I’ve been trusted to protect his life. This, is my new mission.’

Stott spoke about his relationship with Prince Harry earlier this year, telling The Daily Mirror: ‘I never saw Harry as a member of the Royal Family but as a soldier and officer.

‘I really got to see the Harry people haven’t seen. That’s how we bonded.’

Stott was a paratrooper to the elite Special Boat Service, before being discharged from the forces following a parachute accident in 2010.

Stott also broke not one, but two world records in 2018; the fastest person to cycle the length of South America and the fastest cycle journey of the Pan American Highway.

He is happily married to his wife Alana, and the pair share two children together.

The new duo are replacing DS Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox and Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham.

They weren’t able to appear on the Australian version of the show this season, due to filming commitments for the UK version of the franchise.

The 2022 contestants include retired NRL star Darius Boyd, model Simone Holtznagel as well as Bachelor stars Anna Heinrich and Locky Gilbert.
