A California pig named Ramone has had a rough start to summer.

The swine was found by Orange County police on Thursday, crammed into the back of a maroon BMW.

‘We see a lot of things in this line of work and just when we think we’ve seen it all,’ officers said in a social media post.

Police did not say how long the pig, who was later identified as Ramone, had been in the vehicle for.

They managed to contact Ramone’s owner and reunite the two, and the pig was safely removed from the steaming hot vehicle.

It is not clear if the owner was charged.

Police signed off on their social media update by asking locals to be mindful of leaving animals in their cars as the days begin to heat up.

‘As we approach summer, remember to not leave your animals inside the vehicle,’ they wrote.

In January last year, a law was passed in California which allows residents to break the windows of cars if they believe there is an animal in danger with no legal repercussions.
