Schapelle Corby reveals the weirdest thing that changed about Australia after spending 13 years in Bali

She spent thirteen years in Bali, including nine behind bars in Kerobokan Prison.

And in a new interview to promote the re-release of her autobiography, Schapelle Corby revealed the most surprising thing about returning home to Australia after years locked up in Indonesia.

Speaking to The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday, the 42-year-old said she was shocked by the amount of plastic in Aussie supermarkets now.

‘There’s a lot of plastic in supermarkets,’ she said. ‘Everything is wrapped up. You want to buy a carrot and it’s wrapped up in plastic.’

She continued: ‘Styrofoam, all this plastic… They take the plastic bags away, but then it’s still in the fruit and veg section. It’s full of plastic.’

On a sadder note, Schapelle also said that returning home to Australia without her late father was the most difficult thing about coming back.

‘I still can’t cope with that,’ she said of her dad, who died in 2008 from bowel cancer while Schapelle was behind bars in Bali.

‘I think funerals are really funerals are really important for us living people to say goodbye, and I couldn’t say goodbye, so I’m still kind of in this limbo.’

At one point during the interview, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson broke down in tears as Schapelle explained how she would have died in prison were it not for the loyalty and friendship of her older sister, Mercedes.

‘I would be dead, if it wasn’t for Mercedes,’ she said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

‘She doesn’t know how much she’s done for me,’ Schapelle added, before turning to her sister and saying: ‘I would really not be here, Merc. I love you so much.’

It was that moment that reduced Jackie to tears.

In footage from the KIIS FM studio uploaded to Twitter, the 44-year-old could be seen crying and wiping away her tears with a tissue.

‘I think your sister was prepared to sleep with you in jail to support you,’ said Jackie.
