Schoolboy, 14, ‘made 13 sex attacks on women outside pubs, shops and railway stations in four-week crime spree’

A schoolboy has been charged with 13 counts of sexual assaults on women within a four-week period.

The 14-year-old will face court next month alleged to have attacked them outside shops, pubs and train stations across south-east London.

He was charged by Scotland Yard detectives on Tuesday after being arrested at the beginning of March. The allegations stretch over a period from February 9 to March 4.

The teenager was initially arrested on the night of March 4 on suspicion of six counts of sexual assault but released under investigation.

He has now been charged with those assaults and faces a further seven allegations. He is accused of attacking a woman outside a Poundland store in Penge, while the second allegation came five days later by a woman near a Lidl shop in the area.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also alleged to have targeted women at two train stations – the first one at Penge East Railway Station on February 15, the Metropolitan Police said.

He is also accused of assaulting a woman at Kent House Railway Station in Beckenham on February 23.

The youth is also now accused of sexually assaulting a woman outside the Pawleyne Arms pub in Penge on February 27.

The final allegation against him came on March 4 outside the Moon and Stars pub in Penge.

Eleven of the 13 charges allegedly happened in Penge, with the other two in Beckenham. The boy will face magistrates in Bromley, south-east London, on September 10.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: ‘A teenage boy has been charged in connection with a number of sexual assaults in the Penge area.

‘A 14-year-old boy was charged with 13 counts of sexual assault on Tuesday. He will next appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on September 10.’
