Schoolgirl, 15, reveals how she got her father jailed by filming him attacking her mother… but now visits him in prison

  • Maysa Rosato-Clifton, 15, watched her father hit her mother for her whole life
  • In November, she filmed one of her father’s attack leading to a GBH conviction
  • She explained that she visits her father in prison every two weeks, but has no regrets over helping him get convicted

A schoolgirl who filmed her father beating up her mother in order to put him behind bars said she visits her father in prison every two weeks.

Maysa Rosato-Clifton, 15, had seen her father Andrew Clifton beat her mother for ‘as long as she could remember’.

One day the teenager filmed her lorry driver father, 53, as he smashed down their the front door and screamed at her mother Tania.

The shocking clip shows Tania, 51, screaming down the phone to the police while Clifton smashes the glass panels of the door down.

The footage eventually put Clifton behind bars, where he is serving eight years from GBH with intent.

Speaking to the Mirror, the teenager revealed she has no regrets because it needed to be shown.

She said: ‘I feel quite bad I videoed it and put my dad in that situation. But it needed to be shown. I was just focused on my mum. I didn’t get upset until later.’

Maysa’s video was shown during a trial at Luton Crown Court in May, helping secure his conviction.

‘I remember asking my dad to stop but it carried on. I was in shock and thought I might need proof. Everything really changed that night’ she added.

Her mother Tania, 51, said she was ‘so proud’ of her daughter, for getting evidence that lead to a conviction.

She explained that Maysa knew something ‘wasn’t right’ and warned her not to open the door, as her Clifton was returning her home after a visit.

Tania, a teacher from Dunstable, Bedfordshire,  said she had blacked out and woke up covered in blood on the floor with her daughter’s father towering over her, making her believe her life was over.

‘I managed to kick him, he fell back and I crawled out of the house into the front garden screaming for help. Then he followed me out with a kitchen knife and Maysa started screaming. He dropped the knife and banged my head on the pavement and started stamping on my head.

An elderly member stopped the attack by grabbing Clifton during the assault, which took place last November, while an off-duty police officer who witnessed the attack arrested him.

Tania was hospitalised as a result of the attack and needed seven staples in her head.

The couple had met when they were only 17, while Tania was working at a video rental store and Andrew came in as a customer.

Their romance moved quickly, and within two weeks Andrew had moved into Tania’s bedsit.

But within two months their Andrew began to abuse Tania, grabbing her by the throat and punching her for being late home from a night out.

Attacks escalated, and he was soon throwing her down the stairs and even strangled her.

She called the police, but was too frightened to cooperate.

After she threw him out in 2013, officers logged 17 incidents of violence.

Despite his conviction, Tania says eight years isn’t long enough, and that she’ll ‘never feel safe’.
