The year’s group of Schoolies have broken records for all the wrong reasons as it’s revealed 66 school leavers have been arrested in the last seven days.
Those numbers top the previous year which at this time in the festivities saw 37 teenagers arrested, mainly for drug possession.
But while it’s a wild start to the month-long party season the Gold Coast is preparing for even more young people to descend onto its shores as week two begins.
Saturday night saw groups strip off during the merriment and head down to the beach for a swim in their Bonds underwear.
But not everyone was so keen to jump into the surf, with many more huddling together in the sand trying to keep warm well into the early hours of the morning.

Among all the hype of partying and excitement of celebrating the end of their exams, some teenagers appeared to have forgotten how to wear their thongs.
One girl, who was assisting a friend being pushed in a wheelchair, had her sandals wrapped around her ankle – presumably so they wouldn’t get lost.
The Red Frogs were also out in numbers helping the teenagers who partied too hard, offering sick bags to struggling youngsters.
Friday was officially the last day of the Schoolies week one held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, which started on Saturday November 18.

More than 20,000 Schoolies were expected to embark on the sunshine state during the coastal celebrations.
